Disaster Program Overview

vrc-drill

Volunteer Alexandria is the lead agency for the recruitment and management of volunteers during an emergency. In collaboration with the City of Alexandria’s Office of Emergency Management and other volunteer centers and nonprofits within the National Capitol Region, Volunteer Alexandria continues to fulfill its mission by meeting the needs of the community by mobilizing people during emergency.

Join our Emergency Volunteer Mobilization Team! We are looking for volunteers who would like to help run Volunteer Reception Centers, should a disaster affect the Alexandria area. These Volunteer Reception Centers (VRC) provide a central location where volunteers can go to be placed in volunteer positions to assist with disaster recovery. Trainings to learn the process and volunteer roles of the VRC will be offered several times a year.

Please contact Jennifer Styles if you are interested in attending the next training - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 703-836-2176.
