The 15th Annual Business Philanthropy Summit, emceed by Rebecca Cooper from WJLA7, attracted over 220 participants from all sectors, including businesses, nonprofits, and government leaders. The audience heard from Tony Pica with Capital One and Catherine Merrill Williams of Washingtonian Magazine regarding their philanthropic efforts. We also recognized and celebrated community leaders who have supported Alexandria. After the Summit, over 40 volunteer teams, comprised of 500 + volunteers, contributed over1,500 hours to more than 30 nonprofit agencies and parks to plant flowers, build vegetable beds, clean parks, brighten up the space for children and families living at a shelter, and much more.

What is Spring for Alexandria? Spring for Alexandria, supported by the City of Alexandria, is a three-day program of contributions, giving, and service.
The event has engaged thousands of volunteers and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Alexandria-based charities. This event has become central to our community's springtime culture, and a model of businesses, nonprofits, neighbors, youth, and government working together for the common good. There are four components to this event: Act for Alexandria's Gala on May 2, Volunteer Alexandria's Business Philanthropy Summit and Community Service Day on May 3, and the Jaycees donation drive on May 4.
